Iman's Mission

HOUSE OF (IMAN) ="Faith-To Believe." The Evolution Begins

On October of 2007 The House of IMAN was launched…We represent the evolution of empowerment and beauty with a sharp stylish edge that is taking the Women’s Ballroom scene by storm.

The House of IMAN is honorably named after one of the most ICONIC and beautiful African women of all time. To celebrate our successes as women of color while empowering the ballroom scene to realize that people of color are the core of our movement and it is time to rejoice in our successes!

The House of IMAN is lead by:

OVERALL MOTHER AISHA IMAN

&
OVERALL FATHER PRESTIGE IMAN

whom have extensive prior ballroom experience in the ballroom scene. They bring new energy to the women’s ballroom scene.

THE HOUSE OF IMAN is a social network that is read taking our community to the next level with it’s group of unique, versatile, and talented individuals we plan to bring back the fun and enjoyment of he ballroom scene; at the same time empowering and educating not only lesbians of color but our community as a whole. The IMAN’S are not SHADY; but we are selective we desire sexy, sophisticated aristocrats that will ignite the ballroom floor, not only will you be seen, you will be heard… The house of Imam is a force and movement to be reckoned with ……THAT BEING SAID DON'T GET IT TWISTED WHEN IT IS TIME TO COMPETE YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO COMPETE WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST…. THE IMAN’S take this progression as a vehicle of fun & enjoyment used to empower Lesbians and women of color...

THE HOUSE OF IMAN is dedicated to educating women on HIV & STD prevention because it is a huge reality in our community and women in are scene take a hear no evil see no evil attitude which is scary in this day and age and if we can educate just one person through our social network we can create change.

STDS AMONG WOMEN IN THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY TID BITS!

Can women give other women STDs? Yes. There is a misconception among health care providers and women themselves that lesbian and bisexual women have little or no risk for sexually transmitted diseases (STD). This myth is fueled by the lack of reliable studies of STD transmission in these communities. In fact, the risk of STD transmission between women varies significantly depending on the STD. Herpes, HPV (genital wart virus), and bacterial vaginosis are transmitted fairly easily between women during sex. HIV, hepatitis B, gonorrhea, and chlamydia are much less likely to be transmitted--the risk is low but it is still possible. The majority of lesbian and bisexual women have (or have had) sex with men, and all STDs are easily transmitted from men to women during intercourse. Often STD do not have symptoms, so it is possible for a woman to have become infected years ago and to still harbor the infection. It is important that you share your particular sexual history with a GLBT-friendly health care provider who can advise you of the appropriate STD screening tests for you. All women, including lesbian and bisexual women, need to receive regular Pap tests.

THE HOUSE OF IMAN will reawaken the energy and drive that lies within us all so if this is something that you may be interested in email us at houseofiman@gmail.com and we will get back to you.
